Division 2 - Llanybydder 3 v 1 Cardigan Reserves

It was a disappointing start for Cardigan for this match. Town turned up late after failing to be told that the changing rooms had been moved and had to change on the pitch side. This resulted in a poor warm up and as a result the defence were caught out. Llanybydder were quicker to the ball, more committed and aggressive. Not surprisingly within 13 mins Llanybydder had scored twice.
With Chris Truslove leading the way Cardigan slowly got themselves back in the game and by the half time whistle were beginning to take control. Spurred on by the crowd they came out fighting for the 2nd half. Cardigan's Dylan James came on for Aaron Evans after he pulled a muscle and played exceptionally well on the right. 20 mins into the 2nd half Barry Morgan was replaced by Richard Abbott in central defence. Town continued to push hard and were rewarded with a goal from a free kick that bounced into the 6 yard box. On being cleared by Llanybydder the ball came off a defender landing at the feet of Richard Abbott who beat a defender and slotted the ball home.
In an attempt to gain a point Cardigan left 3 at the back and 5 mins before full time conceded another goal that put the game beyond Cardigan. Llanybydder played a great game of football and were slightly more clinical than cardigan on this occasion. However Cardigan had the majority of the position and perhaps deserved a draw.

Thanks to Richard Abbott of Cardigan for the match report. |
